1. Recommended Accessories

To get started with your retro handheld device, you’ll need a few essential accessories:
MicroSD Card: 128GB or 256GB (either size is suitable for the platforms this device supports).
MicroSD Card Reader: SD Card Reader 

Charger: 65W Charger (use the USB-A port for charging).

2. Updating Firmware

Updating your firmware is crucial for ensuring your device runs smoothly and has the latest features. Follow these steps to update your firmware:

Step 1: Check Your Firmware Version

Go to Settings > System > Device Info > Version.
Compare your version number with the latest release from the TrimUI Firmware GitHub page.
If your version is behind, proceed with the update.

Step 2: Format Your SD Card

Download Rufus (portable version recommended).
Connect your SD card to your PC using a reliable card reader.
Open Rufus and ensure the device selected is your SD card.
Change the Boot selection to Non bootable.
Set the File system to FAT32 or Large FAT32.
Click START to format the card.

Step 3: Download and Install the Firmware

Download the latest release (look for a file named firmware_BRICK_tg3040 followed by a date and version).
Extract the zip file and locate the trimui_tg3040.awimg file.
Copy this file to the ROOT of your formatted SD card.

Step 4: Update Your Device

Turn on your device while holding the Volume Minus button and pressing the Power button simultaneously.
Keep holding the Volume Minus button until you see a progress bar.
Release the button once the progress bar appears; the device will automatically restart when the update is complete.

3. Stock Setup Guide

This guide assumes you are starting from scratch with a new SD card and will be providing your own ROMs and BIOS files.

Step 1: Format Your SD Card

Download Rufus (portable version recommended).
Connect your new SD card to your PC using a reliable card reader.
Open Rufus and ensure the device selected is your SD card.
Change the Boot selection to Non bootable.
Set the File system to FAT32 or Large FAT32.
Click START to format the card.

Step 2: Download and Extract the Base Package

Download the base_package from the TrimUI Firmware GitHub page.
Extract the zip file using 7-Zip (other extraction tools may fail).
Copy the contents of the extracted folder (including RetroArch, Emus, etc.) to the ROOT of your formatted SD card.

Step 3: Insert the SD Card

Safely eject the SD card from your PC.
Insert the SD card into your TrimUI Brick device.

4. Adding ROMs & BIOS Files

To add ROMs and BIOS files to your device, follow these steps:

Step 1: Connect Your SD Card

Connect your SD card to your PC using a reliable card reader.

Step 2: Add ROMs

Navigate to the Roms folder on the SD card.
You will see multiple folders for different systems supported by the device.
Move your ROM files for each system into the corresponding system folder.

Step 3: Add BIOS Files

Navigate to the RetroArch folder, then .retroarch, and finally system.
Place your BIOS files in this folder.

Step 4: Refresh ROM List

After adding or removing ROM files, you may need to refresh the ROM list.
Go to the Game tab in the operating system.
Press the Menu button on the device (bottom left) and select Refresh Roms.

5. Troubleshooting and Tips

Ensure Proper Formatting: Always format your SD card using Rufus to avoid compatibility issues.
Check File Integrity: Ensure that your ROM and BIOS files are not corrupted before transferring them to your device.
Regular Updates: Keep your firmware up to date to benefit from the latest improvements and bug fixes.
Backup: Always keep a backup of your SD card before performing any major updates or changes.
